Advance Weightless Ultra Light Pod Harness
Product Details
Our Take
The Advance LIGHTNESS 4 is a lightweight pod harness aimed at pilots who want real cross-country comfort without going all the way into a heavier race-style harness. It sits in a very useful part of the market: light enough for travel and hike-in flying, but comfortable and refined enough for long XC days.
This is not a minimalist pod harness, and that is a big part of the appeal. The LIGHTNESS 4 gives you the comfort, storage, cockpit, speedbag, protection and carry system that make it feel like a proper all-round XC harness. For pilots moving into their first pod, it is approachable and easy to live with. For experienced pilots, it offers a very polished balance of comfort, efficiency and low weight.

Design and Flying Feel
The LIGHTNESS 4 is designed around comfort, ease of use and efficient XC flying. Advance has redesigned the seat shell and harness geometry to give better body support, improved comfort and a more relaxed position for long flights.
The rear fairing adds aerodynamic benefit and helps with directional stability, but it is still moderate in size. That keeps the harness practical on launch and in general handling, while still giving the pilot a cleaner, more efficient profile in flight.
One of the strong points of the LIGHTNESS series has always been how accessible it feels for a pod harness. The LIGHTNESS 4 continues that idea with simple adjustment, easy speedbag entry and a revised closure system designed to make pre-flight setup more straightforward.
Comfort and XC Use
Comfort is the main story with the LIGHTNESS 4. The redesigned seat shell, supportive back foam and included windshield all work toward the same goal: reducing fatigue on longer flights.
The windshield is a small but valuable addition for XC flying. It helps reduce wind chill and wind noise, especially when flying accelerated, which can make a real difference over longer periods in the air.
Storage and Practicality
The LIGHTNESS 4 has significantly more storage than the previous generation. The rear compartment is larger, there is additional under-seat storage, and the nose of the speedbag adds another useful compartment.
This matters in real flying. For XC, travel and adventure flying, storage is not just a convenience. It determines how easily you can carry layers, water, food, instruments, batteries and the extra bits that make a long day work.
Included LIGHTPACK DLS
The LIGHTNESS 4 is supplied with the Advance LIGHTPACK DLS. This is a big part of the overall system. Rather than treating the harness and bag as separate items, Advance has designed them to work together as a compact and comfortable carry setup.
The LIGHTPACK DLS has shaped shoulder straps and a padded back section, giving the whole package a more comfortable feel on walk-ins, travel days and hike-and-fly style missions.
Size and Weight Guide
| Size | Pilot Height | Harness Weight | Rucksack Volume | Rucksack Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 155–172 cm | 3.25 kg | 81 L | 0.62 kg |

| L | 178–200 cm | 3.58 kg | 91 L | 0.64 kg |
When choosing a size, pilot height and body shape both matter. Pilots near the edge of a size range should ideally test both sizes or ask for fitting advice.

Airventure Summary
The Advance LIGHTNESS 4 is one of those harnesses that makes a lot of sense for a wide range of pilots because it does not chase one extreme. It is light, but still comfortable. It is aerodynamic, but still practical. It is refined enough for serious XC, but approachable enough to be a very good first pod harness for the right pilot.
For pilots wanting a premium light XC harness with excellent comfort, clean handling, strong storage and a well-matched backpack system, the LIGHTNESS 4 is a very strong option.
